I am Abdulkadir Diriye Roble, a highly experienced Agriculture, Food Security, Livelihoods, and Environmental Specialist with more than 35 years of professional experience in Somalia. My career has focused on food security analysis, agricultural development, project management, environmental conservation, and humanitarian programming.

Currently, I serve as a Food Security Field Analyst Officer with the Food Security and Nutrition Analysis Unit (FSNAU/FAO Somalia), a position I have held since January 2006. In this role, I collect, analyze, and interpret food security, livelihood, and nutrition information to support evidence-based decision-making for humanitarian and development interventions. I conduct assessments, monitor market and livelihood trends, prepare analytical reports, and collaborate with government institutions, UN agencies, NGOs, and communities to improve food security outcomes.

I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture from the Faculty of Agriculture, Somali National University (1989) and completed coursework toward a Master of Science in Biology of Conservation (Ecology) at the University of Nairobi, Kenya (2002–2003). I have further strengthened my professional expertise through extensive training in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), Sustainable Agricultural Land Management, Environmental Science, Agricultural Economics, Project Planning and Management, and Statistical Analysis using Excel.

Before joining FAO/FSNAU, I worked as an Agriculture Project Manager and Agronomist with Norwegian Church Aid (NCA), where I managed agricultural development and livelihood programs, supported farmer organizations, promoted sustainable farming practices, and coordinated capacity-building activities. Earlier, I served as Project Manager and Agricultural Team Leader with the Somali Intellectual Association for Reconstruction and Development (SIA), leading irrigation, agriculture, and community development projects. I also worked as a Locust Surveyor in the Plant Protection Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, conducting pest surveillance and supporting locust control operations across Somalia.
